I like beer. I love good beer. Luckily, in my town, there is a great store that sells beers from around the world, some very popular, and some not very well known at all. Like a kid in a candy store, I’ve been taste-testing my way through as many of these fermented goodies as I can, and I have come to favor a few of them more than others.

MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann calls out Fox News, once again, on their hypocrisy, lies, and unethical journalism. In Daily Show fashion, Olbermann’s Countdown crew often goes to Fox’s own past footage to shed light on the truth, as they do here with Glen Beck. If any journalist in the “Liberal Media” said any of the hateful and violence-inciting things that Beck often does, the right-wing would scream until their eyes popped out of their fat heads.

Olbermann also finally hammers back at the right-wing for their constant complaints about the Liberal Media. There isn’t one. Doesn’t exist.  The right has used this tactic to shift the middle to the left, and the right to the middle. Research shows that the mainstream media reflects the ideals and beliefs of the majority of Americans. Most people consider that these media outlets are fair and balanced, and that in the majority of cases, report facts without political slant. A political news organization like Fox News must claim to be a reflection of the majority, in order to hide the fact that they far right-wing, they are partisan, they deal in opinion, and often lie with no concern about journalistic integrity. By decrying the mainstream media as “left”, or “liberal”, they are simply trying to portray themselves as the popular “middle”. It’s a deceptive way of portraying extreme political beliefs as normal.

The Republicans object to a proposal to put the health care amendments online before being considered. This attempt at transparency is, of course, not want the GOP wants. It would make it more difficult to keep the public fearful of the Democratic health care bill. After all, if the public is informed about what is actually in the bill, then how can Republicans continue to lie about it and get away with it?

Chase Whitestead and Erick Stroll of New Left Media attended a Palin Book signing in Columbus, Ohio, in order to find out what it is, exactly, that her supporters like about her policies. Other than the usual generic answers, they couldn’t seem to really articulate any responses to question about Palin’s qualifications for the Presidency. Not a big surprise.

A Black Friday Apple ad may have been leaked, showing 30% discounts on Ipods, 25% discounts on all Macs! Sounds like a great deal if true.

I must be a racist

Huffington Post calls out Glenn Beck on his Guilt-by-association tactic he has often used against Obama’s advisors. Fox News anchors continue to claim that Obama’s association with a radical “terrorist” and a black “racist” makes him both of those things. This, even after the truth about Ayers and Wright turned out to not exactly be what Fox makes it out to be. His connection to Ayers is tenuous, at best. Obama claims to not have know about Wrights remarks, and denounced him. In typical Fox News fashion, the level of hypocrisy is very high! It would seem that Beck has some explaining to do when it comes to his associations.

The Republicans are turning the health care debate into an abortion debate. It could potentially be a win for the Republicans if they let abortion be a determining factor. Lets not forget that abortion is LEGAL in the U.S. “The Democratic Party stands behind the right of every woman to choose, consistent with Roe v. Wade, and regardless of ability to pay.” That is the OFFICIAL Democratic position on abortion. Any Democrat that blocks the health care bill because of abortion is not in agreement with the official democratic position. If you disagree with this position, then you are in the minority. You have the right to civil disobedience. You have the right to call our President a Nazi or a Communist. Abuse that right though, and you lose all integrity and voice. Like Fox News, once it is clear that you lie, cheat, and fear-monger to sway the public’s opinion, you become irrelevant.

Tea Party protesters hold up signs comparing Obama to Hitler and Mao. Our elected officials ACTUALLY condone this offensive crap! Enough.
