Beck makes fun of educated newscasters

Beck, once again, embraces stupidity. He pokes fun at Keith Olbermann for being “Shakespearean”. He’s no Joe the Plumber, but c’mon…During the Presidential campaign, the right used this tactic to no avail. Why do they think it would work now? They pandered to the “Regular Joe”, claiming that the Republican party was all about helping the average person. Any research on how Republican Congressman vote quickly kills this theory. Time and time again they vote for the rights of the rich. They do not care about the “average” person. It’s amazing to me that this fact escapes the scrutiny of the average Republican citizen. Why on earth would anyone want to protect the Health Insurance Cartel that enslaves the “average” person?

The Republican base is really good at comparing the Obama administration to the Nazis. They make their fallacious arguments to the less-educated masses…and they often take the bait. They get them into a frenzy, and have them spew forth their vile hatred. Fox News contributes to blatant racism and xenophobia, and they continue to maintain ratings.

The silver lining is, more and more people these days are better educated. The Republican party does not have control over as many people as they used to. Teach a person a little about logic and ethics, and the Republican platform falls apart. They are doomed to failure if they continue to treat people as though they are morons. The election of Obama is proof of this shift. The Republican party used the same tactic of feeding misinformation to the people, trying to scare them into submission, trying to scare them into voting for an uneducated Alaskan. They failed miserably. Fox News has failed to see this. They continue to pander to stupidity. Yes, they succeed to a certain extent, in ratings for instance, but they fail in actual real world figures.

Obama was elected by a majority. As Cheney said about Bush, who barely won, he “has a mandate”. Why is Bush so fortunate enough to receive a “mandate”, while Obama gets accusations of destroying the constitution…and within his first 3 months of office!? The hatred from the Republican party over Obama is unprecedented. They talk of military coups, and tea party marches on Washington. Fox News actually supports these causes! When has a “news” organization ever supported something as obviously political as this??

People such as Beck have the right to say whatever they want. We need to understand though, the difference between “News” and “Opinion”. The Fox network is editorial. They rarely back up their claims with facts or unbiased sources. Many are beginning to realize this. It’s time that we explain this to our friends and neighbors though. Not everyone can devote so much time to fact-checking. That is the Republican strength. They thrive on ignorance. It’s time to educate those around us who don’t realize that their well-being is at stake. The Republicans don’t want a Public Health Insurance option, for instance…even though every study has shown that it would lower costs and be nothing but beneficial to all Americans. The Republicans, ever ready to protect the rich corporations, proceed to fear-monger and lie in order to protect their corporate interests.

So, to sum up, Beck is a moron who embraces stupidity. So the same with Fox News and the Republican party. It’s time for intelligent people to fight back against such ignorance. Rally against Ad Hominem attacks or other fallacious arguments against the truth! Fight stupidity with ridicule where it is deserved. Most importantly, fight ignorance with truth.
